Quotes and Observations

Random Quotes and Observations that give you a look at my thoughts, fears, and beliefs.

The things I learn by quietly watching are amazing. But I still can’t seem to keep my mouth shut for very long.
This is such an accurate description of me.  There has been improvement with age but I still have a long ways to go.  What compels me to speak?  Where does the assumption that they want to hear my opinion come from?  I know I have visited this theme before but I still haven't figured out why I don't do better with this.

Time is not kind. It can tease us with not enough and too much in the same day.
There is seldom enough time to get all the tasks done in a day.  Do you also lay down at night and think of what was left undone?  Did the day last too long?  Do you replay all the things you had to do that were not pleasant?
I wish I could speed time up for things that are not pleasant.
But I really wish I could stop time for the moments that touch my heart.  Stop it so that the feeling doesn't just touch but seeps all the way through.

While learning wisdom through experience you become painfully aware of how foolish you really are.
Have you ever found yourself realizing that some long held belief is now obsolete?  The world keeps changing.  What happens to those who aren't flexible enough to keep up with it?  Do they also become obsolete?

The easiest way to kill me is with Kindness.
Over the years I formed the bad habit of expecting the worse so that I won't be let down.  This is a ridiculous way to face the world so I actively try to change this habit.  Disappointment can make it hard to justify the effort.  The unintentional things done with no awareness can be the hardest for me.

There are days when I can’t turn it loud enough to shut out all the noise.
How do you turn off expectations?  How much do you give away?  Do you also wish for a place to hide?

Enough digging for the day.  There will be another day to try again.

Never enough

There is no such thing as too much Mr. Man.  I spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday following him around and playing with him.  I love to watch him.  I love to take pictures of him.  There is just not enough time in the day when we go visit.

I know you won't be surprised that I am going to share some of the photos.

He has started smiling for me when I take his picture.  At least when he is paying attention to me he will.  Sometimes he is too busy.
I am in love with his dimples.  And his gorgeous blue eyes.  And his chubby little cheeks.

He is so busy most of the time that he doesn't care that I am taking pictures.  That is when I can get pictures like this.  You can tell he is trying to figure something out.  See the wrinkled eyebrows?

I love the light that comes through the front door.  He likes to play there and I take advantage of it when ever possible!

He found his Grandpa's keys and wallet.  He didn't get to keep the wallet very long but Grandpa let him play with his keys for as long as he wanted to.  (Translation: as long as I was willing to watch him so they wouldn't get lost)
I wanted to see what kind of reflections I could get if I stood outside and he stayed inside.

I like the way there seems to be layers of reflections.

Here he is giving his stuffed animal buddies a ride in a box.  Boxes are still the coolest toys ever!

 He liked Grandpa's shoes.
Here he is with the Pumpkin before it was carved.
His Daddy and Mommy discussing how and what to carve on the pumpkin.
I wonder how long he will let us dress him up?
Cute, Cute, Cute!
I sure wish I could be there Halloween night.
I miss him already.
They are coming to visit us next.
Three weeks.
I think I can wait that long.

It has been awhile since I posted. My mind has been busy on other things. I have stopped by to check a few times to make sure nothing had blown up. Nope, just a few visitors reading old post.

I have been busy taking pictures of course.
Here are a few of my favorites that I have captured in the last few weeks.

I have a few photo sessions to do soon.  High School Senior photos for a family member and two families that want their photos taken together.  I don't have much practice doing portraits so this should be a learning experience.  I hope the weather continues to be as mild for a few more weeks.  I am enjoying the break from this past summer's heat.  I am NOT ready for the cold.

Fair

I have a quick observation, comment, and two questions.
Please tell me that I am not the only one that thinks this is strange.
I don't get it.
How do you fry Kool-Aid and why would you want to?
Why would you make a donut the bun for a burger?

Now this I get.  I wish I could do some of the rides.  Maybe next year.

Look! This one turns the riders upside down.  That would be fun.
This one turns you upside down too!
And sideways!
I can feel my stomach tickling just watching it.

I would really like to take pictures of Mr. Man on the Grand Carousel.

Of course anything you do, eat or drink cost way too much.
I have been told I squeak when I walk.  (If this was said to get me to change my ways......Sorry, ain't happening!)
It takes most of the fun out of it when you feel like you are being ripped off.
 But.....
It didn't cost me anything to walk around and take pictures.  There is always something cool to look at if you take the time.
I liked the man walking around with the parrots.
Here is a man carving a bow at the Creek Nation booth.  I was surprised at how yellow the wood was.

The Sky Ride was something I was able to do and the view was great.  I love the Old Pavilion Building.

I have always liked the IPE building.  They have renamed it the QT Center but I can't call it that.  It has been the IPE Building all my life.  Thank you QT for remodeling the building but I don't like your name on it.

I can remember many years of sitting on the edge of the sidewalk taking a break.  When I was a kid it was a place to sit and eat what ever cool snack Grams got for us.  As a teenager it was a good spot to sit and watch the cute boys.  As an adult I remember the 1st year they no longer allowed smoking in the building and we all had to go outside to have a cigarette.  The sidewalk was full of smokers back then.  There aren't as many now.  When I took my girls when they were little we always took what ever food we had and sat down there to enjoy it.  You can see the Midway and watch all the brave people on the wild rides while you eat.  It is a place you can sit and just take a break with no danger of being in somebody's way.

All of the photos I took today were in the RAW format.  This is the first time I shot in that format.  I like how it did outside in the natural light.  The results inside were not as good.  I guess that means I need more practice.  We are going back again next weekend with Mattie and James so I will see if I can do any better with the inside shots next time.
I did get a shot of the Hubby with an Old School OU Football star.  Billy is such a nice man.
He didn't mind that the Hubby was wearing a TU hat.  They chatted about them both being from Texas and Mr. Sims even said he grew up with one of my favorite Sprint Car drivers from Hooks Texas.

 Them Texans are everywhere.

1st Birthday

I know this looks like a replay from last weekend's fun, but this is Mr. Man's Birthday.  Last weekend was Mikkie's Birthday.  Both were at parks and both had cute, cute little guys and lots of cute friends.  My youngest wanted to go so bad but she just had too much else to do.  Work, work, school, homework, laundry, house cleaning, more homework.  So she sent the gifts she got for Mr. Man and told me to take lots of pictures.

So Mrs. Mattie, since you couldn't go and had to stay home and work, this is for you.

He played on the slide.

He got to swing.  He just might, maybe, possibly like to swing as much as you Mattie.  We had to take him out cause it was making him sleepy.  We couldn't have him taking a nap in the swing when the party was just getting started!

He played it cool, talking to some of the girls.
 Said hi to his Cousin.
 Played with the decorations.

He liked his presents.  Really he did.  He also really liked the bow that came on the package.
He liked Super Grover too!  But his Mommy loves Super Grover.  He was just a bit distracted by the card attached to a toy car.

He loved his cake!  If he could have figured out how to lick every bit off his fingers I bet he would have.
He was just looking at the cake so his Grandpa stuck his hand in it.
That is all the hint he needed.  He got both hands in and went to work!
 1st bite
 2nd bite
 3rd bite
He got a little bit on his face.
He wasn't worried about it.
He had some on his hands too.
His Daddy started to clean him up.
It took a lot of baby wipes and help from another one of the Dads to get him this clean!

One of the little girls played peek-a-boo.

Can you believe how cute she is?  I couldn't help but take some pictures of her.
Back to Mr. Man....
He had lots of fun! He played and played.
Good thing the party wasn't too long cause he was tired at the end.

I wish you could have gone.  I know you would have loved to have been there.  All your hard work will be worth it in the end.  You are going to make a great teacher.  Nice job on the A+ on your test!  I am so proud of you.  I have lots more pictures for you to see when you have more time.
